William Herbert “Bill” Richardson, Sr., 85, of Cumming, Ga., formerly of Atlanta, Ga., passed away at home on Saturday, June 3, 2017 after a period of declining health.
A native of Atlanta, Bill was born on August 29, 1931, the only child of the late William Berry Richardson and Clara Lee Bell Richardson. He grew up in the Virginia-Highlands area, graduating from Grady High School and from Georgia State University.
Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea at the end of the Korean Conflict.
Bill was retired from G.E. Credit Corporation.
Bill is survived by his wife of 58 years Jane Rape Richardson, his daughter Billie Jane “B.J.” Richardson Williams and her husband Joel, his son William H. “Bill” Richardson, Jr. and his wife Beth and his son William Allen “Al” Richardson and his wife Meg. He is also survived by his grandchildren Elizabeth Richardson, Ben Richardson and his wife Dessi, Katie Barlow, Meredith Williams and Paige Williams Grindle and her husband Micah.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 11, 2017 in the Chapel of McDonald & Son Funeral Home in Cumming, Ga. The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. prior to the service.
