Robert A. Smith of Buford, GA passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, June 4, 2017 at the age of 75.
He is survived by his wife of twenty-one years, Frances McCutcheon Smith, Buford, GA; children, Robin and Pete Hedrick, Duluth, GA, Alisa and Jay Sims, Newnan, GA, Jeannette and Leonard Reposa, Fairhaven, MA, Janice and James Bryan, Chapin, SC, Joe Mandarini, Martinez, GA and John and Stephanie Mandarini, Augusta, GA; seventeen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Eileen and Scott Brennan, Decatur, GA; niece, Bonnie Brennan, Decatur, GA; and nephew, Hilary Brennan, Duluth, GA. Robert A. Smith was born June 23, 1941 in Milledgeville, GA.
He was a 1960 graduate of Fulton High School in Atlanta, GA and attended DeVry Institute in Atlanta, GA. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy. He retired from Ford Motor Company in Atlanta, GA and he also worked for Flour Daniel Company in Alpharetta, GA and Kimberly Clark (Johnson & Johnson Company). He was a former member of Grovetown First Pentecostal Church in Grovetown, GA and a member of Buford First Pentecostal Church in Buford, GA.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Buford First Pentecostal Church with Pastor Tim Copeland and Pastor Dwayne French officiating.
The remains will be placed in state at the church at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2017.
Interment will follow at 3:30 p.m. at Bellevue Memorial Gardens Chapel Mausoleum, 4501 Wrightsboro Road, Grovetown, GA 30813 with military honors.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.at Flanigan Funeral Home in Buford.
