Mr. Roger Stephen Foster, Sr., age 81of Long Shoals Road, Lincolnton, North Carolina passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Carolina Medical Center.
A son of the late Ross Harvey and Helen Szedlmay Foster, he was born July 1, 1935 in Washington, DC having lived in Stephens and Banks Counties for several years and the majority of his life in Lincolnton, North Carolina. He was retired from Duke Power as a welder with 40 years of service having started to work at Duke in 1970. He was an avid outdoorsman and was of the Catholic faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, David Alan Foster and Charles Martin Lewis.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Stefanie and Bill Barrett of Toccoa; sons, Matthew Foster and fiancé` Angie Matthews of Lincolnton, North Carolina and Roger Stephen Foster, Jr. of Baldwin, Georgia; grandchildren, Hannah Westmoreland, Foster Westmoreland, Riley Westmoreland, Alex Foster, Ellie Foster and David Alan “D.J.” Foster, Jr.; sisters, Patty Shumaker of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Joyce Maxfield of Virginia.
Graveside services will be Friday, June 2, 2017, 4:30 P.M. at Tates Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with The Reverend Jerrell Beatty officiating. Family members will serve as pallbearers.
Interment will follow in the Tates Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements for Mr. Roger Stephen Foster, Sr.
