Jack Scarpellino, 69, passed away after a long struggle with cancer on Wednesday, May 31, 2017. Jack was born February 21, 1948 in Johnson City, New York and was the son of Dr. Carmen Scarpellino and Eleanor (Cross) Scarpellino. He was “invited” to join the US Army during the Vietnam War. Jack was an Army medic for 4 years stationed at the US Army hospital in Ausburg, Germany. Jack received numerous Army awards for achievement, professionalism, and merit. He was awarded the Soldier of the Year for his Battalion in 1971. In 1977, Jack married Delores Neeley in Gainesville, Georgia. Jack was employed by Northeast Georgia Medical Center for 30 years. He held numerous management positions, with the last one being Vice President of Facilities Management. He was an avid golfer and reader.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, sister Sue Tiernan, twin brother Michael Scarpellino, and nephew, United States Marine Corp Aviator, Alex Senopolos. Jack is survived by his wife Delores Neeley Scarpellino; son Steven (Nikki) Scarpellino; grandson Jack Scarpellino; sisters Betsy Toole, Carol Danielson, and Donna Senopolos; nephews Michael Scarpellino, Kyle Danielson, Michael Danielson, Tim Toole, and Patrick Toole; nieces Nikki Senopolos, Veronica (Josh) Valocchi, and Jackie (Alec) Bowers.
Funeral service will be held at 4:00 pm on Sunday, June 4, 2017 at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel. The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00pm on Saturday, June 3, 2017 and from 2:00-4:00pm on Sunday, June 4, 2017 at the funeral home.
