Mr. John Wayne King, age 64, of Hillendale Drive in Toccoa passed away Sunday, May 28, 2017 at his residence.
The son of Mrs. Ruby Adams King and the late Roy James King, he was born March 22, 1953 in Stephens County, Georgia where he lived his entire life. He worked in the construction business for many years and was a skilled carpenter and brick mason, being capable of completing most stages involved in the completion of homes and other structures. John spent the majority of his time doing brick work while in the construction business. He did brick work on the auditorium at Toccoa Falls College, several buildings at The University of Georgia, and a number of homes and buildings in Stephens and surrounding counties. He was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed fishing and camping.
He is survived by a sister, Linda Witcher of Toccoa, a brother, William King of Toccoa, and many cousins having had especially close friendships with his cousins Don King, Mark King, Shawn King, and Susan Clardy all of Anderson, S.C., Stanley King of Virginia, and Jo Ellen Hughes of Palm Desert, California. He is also survived by several aunts and uncles.
Funeral services celebrating the life of Mr. John King will be held Wednesday, May 31, 2017, 11:00 a.m., at the Hillcrest Chapel of The Acree-Davis Funeral Home.
The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Wednesday prior to the service from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
