Robbie Allen Lindsey

Obituary Date: Friday, May 26, 2017

Mr. Robbie Allen Lindsey, age 80, of Riddleville, died on Friday, May 26, 2017, in an Augusta hospital following a sudden illness.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, May 29, 2017, at Riddleville Baptist Church with burial in Riddleville Cemetery.  Reverend Wade Dawson and Reverend Daniel Porter will officiate. 

Pallbearers will be Leslie Giesbrecht, Danny Snell, John Claxton, Justin Hancock, David Lewis, Manny Rubiera, and Mal Bray.

Mr. Lindsey was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the son of the late Asa Williams Lindsey and the late Ila Shurling Lindsey.  He was preceded in death by his siblings: Beulah Lindsey, Benton Lindsey, Walter Lindsey, Geneva Johnson, and Adel Fulmer.  Mr. Lindsey was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of the Riddleville Baptist Church.  Mr. Lindsey was a member of the Washington County Farm Bureau and the Georgia and Washington County Cattleman's Association.  He had been a recipient of the Soil Conservationist Man of the Year award. Mr. Lindsey served on the Board of Directors of the Production Credit Association, was a former chairman of the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service, and a former member and chairmen of Gold Kist.

Survivors are his wife, Charlotte Fields Lindsey of Riddleville; a son , David Lindsey (Debbie Bryan) of Riddleville; two daughters, Diane Lindsey Messmore and her husband Robert of Cleveland and Cynthia Lindsey Turner and her husband James of Tennille; eight grandchildren, Jessica Pennington and her husband Andy, Jennifer Lindsey and her husband Dakota Wilkes Lindsey, Julie Lindsey (Travis Herman), Zachary Messmore and his wife Katie, Lindsey Messmore, Carlos Turner, Janice Turner and Jamie Turner; three great grandchildren, Thomas Withrow, Beau Lindsey, and Caine Lindsey; a brother, Rufus Lindsey and his wife Margaret of Riddleville; a sister Anna Lindsey Reynolds of Riddleville; a brother in law, Bill Fulmer of Wagner, SC; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. on Sunday. 

The family suggest donations be made to Riddleville Baptist Church, c/o Linda Jackson, 9019 Highway 242, Harrison, Georgia 31035.
