James "Ralph" Puckett

James “Ralph” Puckett, age 92, of Buford, GA passed away Friday, May 19, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, Odus and Bessie King Puckett; sisters, Elsie Mae Brown, Mildred Shoemake, Ruth Johnson, Edith Kelly; brother, Harold Odus Puckett. Mr. Puckett is survived by his wife of seventy-one years, Virginia Bagley Puckett. They enjoyed over seventy-one years of marriage, renewing their vows on their seventieth anniversary in front of their loving family. Other survivors include daughters, Diane (Rich) Wake, Buckhead, GA and Connie (Steve) Harper, Jefferson, GA; grandchildren, Andy Goodwin, Marietta, GA, Amy Harper, Lawrenceville, GA, Joe and Holly Harper, Hoschton, GA; great grandchildren, Mitchell and Reagan Goodwin, Marietta, GA, Zoe and Ava Harper, Hoschton, GA ; youngest sister, Runell (Ben) Youngblood, Buford, GA; sister-in-law, Sue Martin Puckett, Buford, GA; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ralph Puckett was born on August 15, 1924 in Buford, GA. He was a member of Sugar Hill Baptist Church for over sixty years, and a member of the Senior Adult Sunday School Class. Mr. Puckett was a charter member of the Gold Wing Senior Club. He was a Mason and received his fifty year membership certificate from Buford Masonic Lodge, # 292 F. & A.M.  He was a member of Buford American Post 127. Mr. Puckett was retired from Lockheed and a member of the union for over thirty-five years, working in the trim department, where he loved his job. He was a member of Hardees Breakfast Club and Birthday Club. Ralph Puckett was a veteran of U. S. Navy, Third Class Petty Officer and served aboard the USS Beaumont during World War II, and was very proud of having served. He loved traveling and seeing the world with his loving wife. He loved woodworking and fixing everything, and serving others. He loved his family, and seeing children always made him smile. Mr. Puckett was loved greatly by his family, and will live on in their hearts and wait for them in heaven. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 22, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Davidson officiating. Interment will be at Sugar Hill Cemetery, Sugar Hill, GA. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 21,  from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Sugar Hill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Wayne Hill, 4647 Suwanee Dam Rd, Suwanee, GA 30024, or to the Alzheimer’s Association of Georgia Chapter, 41 Perimeter Center, Atlanta, GA 30346-1910 in memory of Ralph Puckett.
