L.J. Jarrard, age 84, a lifelong resident of Dahlonega, GA passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2017.
Pop was a wonderful husband, father, pop and friend. He will be greatly missed at Ronnie’s Wagon Wheel Restaurant, Mills Fuel and Wal-Mart. Known best for his white hair and witty sense of humor, he was loved so much by everyone. Pop will be remembered most for his knowledge of all things and his persistence in being right.
L.J. was the son of the late Guy and Myrtle Grizzle Jarrard. He is also preceded in death by his great-granddaughter, Reece Jarrard; brothers, Glad Jarrard and Wayne Jarrard; sons-in-law, Jackie Abercrombie and Brian Meeks; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Jarrard; brothers-in-law, Burt Gooch and Emory Braswell.
L.J. is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Betty Jean Jarrard; children, Michael and Terri Jarrard, Mickel and Cindy Jarrard, Sherry and George Murphy, Marty Jarrard and Lesha Patterson, Carol Meeks; brother and sister-in-law, Alton and Janet Jarrard; sisters, Verna Braswell, Ruby Gooch; sister-in-law, Pat Jarrard; grandchildren, Kelly and William Couch, Jessica and Shane Smith, Jonathan and Amber Jarrard, Megan and Rick Kienel; Abi and Chris Carter, Doug and Brandy Abercrombie, Jarred Meeks, Parker and Katlan Jarrard, Matthew and Tabitha Lee, Westin Lee; great-grandchildren, Jessie Smith, Luke Smith, Jet Jarrard, Laken Jarrard, Morgan Tritt, Will Couch, Colton Lee, Landon Lee, Tate Jarrard, Beau Jarrard. Numerous other relatives also survive.
Funeral services for L.J. are scheduled for 2 PM Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega, GA.
Rev. Lyman Caldwell, Rev. Kris Butler, Rev. Shane Wehunt, and Rev. Russell Burt will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Dahlonega Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 from 2 PM to 5 PM and 6 PM to 9 PM and again on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 from 10 AM until time of service.
