James Odis Davis

James Odis Davis, age 90, of Gillsville, GA passed away Sunday, May 14, 2017.

He was a lifelong resident of Hall County, and a member of Dunagan’s Chapel United Methodist Church. He loved hatching and raising chickens, as well as many other animals, and also enjoyed gardening.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Otto and Dezzie Bell Taylor Davis; daughter, Patsy Christian; sisters, Winell Mobley and Jo Evellyn Farr; brothers-in-law, Bill Farr, Bill Mobley, Abner Buffington, and Robert Major; and sisters-in-law, Vera Mae Davis and Annie Ruth Day.

James is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy Davis; children, Wanda Wallace, Freda Nix and son-in-law, Earl Nix, Opal Sullens, Roger and daughter-in-law, Chris Davis, Ronnie Davis, Tony Davis, and Tim Davis; brothers, Marvin Davis, David Davis and sister-in-law, Janice Davis; sister, Cecil Buffington; sister-in-law, Mildred Day; brother-in-law, Jack Day; brother-in-law, Herbert Day; and sister-in-law, Charlotte Major. 22 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and a number of other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for James are scheduled for 2 PM Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Hillside Chapel Funeral Home in Gainesville, GA.

Interment will follow in Dunagan’s Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Hall County.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 AM until 7 PM Tuesday,May 16, 2017, and again on Wednesday, May 17 from 10 AM until service time.
