Dickerson B. Hawkins

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday May 13, 2017 at Ward’s Funeral Home Chapel for Dickerson B. Hawkins, age 82 of Gillsville. The Rev. Marshall Dale will officiate. Interment will follow at Timber Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Hawkins passed away Wednesday May 10, 2017 of an extended illness.  

Mr. Hawkins was born in Jackson County to the late Fred Hawkins and Nanalean Griffin Hawkins. He was a lifelong Electrician and Farmer and was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his son, Elton Jeffery Hawkins.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, John and Karen Hawkins, Gillsville, daughter, Cheryl Hawkins, Oakwood, grandchildren, Chris Hawkins, Kevin Hawkins, Ashley Schutt, Amy Schutt, Abigail Chesnut, Lily Chesnut, brothers and sisters-in-law, Hal and Hazel Hawkins, Gillsville, Jack and Diane Hawkins, Gillsville and several nieces and nephews.
