Clarice Zolio de Souza Canavan

Clarice (nee) Zolio de Souza Canavan, 82 years old, resident of North Hall, passed away in her home on the May 8th. Born in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, she immigrated to the United States in 1969. Clarice lived in New York City for 31 years and moved to Gainesville, GA to live with her daughter in 2000.

Clarice was a professional seamstress for the Statler Hotel and Cornell University. In her retirement, Clarice sewed gowns, dresses, and costumes, and became known for her beautiful work. She enjoyed traveling and loved her kitchen where she raised cooking to an art. But her main love was caring for her two grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter Kathleen Canavan-Lima, her son-in-law Ageu Lima, her grandchildren, Anajulia and Kieran Thomas, her sister Delba, and her niece/Goddaughter Viviane Jones.

She will be intensely missed by her extended family and her friends.

A memorial service will be held at 8:00 pm on Friday, May 12, 2017 at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel. The family will receive friends 2 hours prior to the service. Online condolences can be made at www.memorialparkfuneralhomes.com.
