Robert Alan Taubel

Robert Alan Taubel, of Gainesville, GA, passed away Friday, April 28, 2017, after a valiant fight against brain cancer.

He was born on December 1, 1949, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Despite his northern origins he happily made Gainesville his home, living in the area for almost twenty-five years.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, George and Jane Taubel, of Calabash, North Carolina.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Taubel; son and daughter-in-law, Wesley and Jennifer Taubel; son, Eric Taubel; daughter, Rebecca Taubel; step-son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Tonya Simmons; step-son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Margie Simmons, step-son, Scott; and step-daughter and son-in-law Kelly and Carlos Lerma.

Robert had three granddaughters and eleven step-grandchildren, and one step-great-grandchild, each of whom he adored and did his best to spoil, and each of whom believed he or she was Robert’s favorite.

A Celebration of Life service for Robert will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at Hillside Chapel Funeral Home in Gainesville, GA.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at Hillside Chapel Funeral Home.

Robert lived a full and enviable life, most of which he spent trying to help others.
