Gloria Chester, 77, of Dawsonville passed away Saturday April 29, 2017 at her residence following a period of declining health.
Born November 23, 1939 in Gilmer County to the late Curtin and Helen Quarles, she lived in Dawson County for 57 years. A homemaker at her death, she was formerly employed at the Amicalola Falls State Park Lodge and Gold Creek Golf Resort. Gloria enjoyed doing arts and crafts and was especially fond of her cats. A member of New Hope Baptist Church, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Earl Chester; stepson, Wayne Chester; and brother, James Quarles.
Surviving are her children, Anne Martin, Dawsonville, Norman Chester, Dawsonville, Melba and Jerrell Fricks, Dahlonega, Connie and Ronnie Sosebee, Dawsonville, Benny Chester, Dawsonville, David Chester, Dawsonville, Marty Chester, Dawsonville; stepchildren, James and Jimmie Ann Chester, Dawsonville, Helen Anderson, Dawsonville, Shirley and Gary Bruce, Hoschton, Teresa and Tim Parton, Dawsonville; brothers and sister in law, Forrest Quarles, Joe Quarles, W. C. and Vickie Quarles, all of Dawsonville; 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Monday May 1, 2017 at 1 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Bobby Whitmire and Rev. Bill Jones will officiate. Interment will follow in the Tails Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Ellijay, GA.
The family will receive friends Monday from 10 a.m. until the service hour.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the funeral home to assist with final expenses.
