Mrs. Clarace Parker Smith Young, age 93, of Hall County, passed away Thursday April 27, 2017 peacefully, after a brief-hospitalization. She was born Clarace Elizabeth Parker on March 27, 1924, in Gainesville, Georgia, to Claude Wiley Parker and Mary Louvenia (Mamie) Couch Parker. Mrs. Young lived most of her life in Gainesville, attended school in Hall County, and was a lifelong member of New Bridge Baptist Church, where funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday April 30, 2017. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. The Reverend Milton Harris will of?ciate. The family will receive friends at a visitation from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday at Ward's Funeral Home in Gainesville.
Mrs. Young was deeply devoted to her family and friends, and she was known for her outgoing personality, her sel?ess generosity, kindness, and humility. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend who loved the Lord with all her heart and was sincerely devoted to her church.
She was pre-deceased by her husband Virgil Eston Young; parents Claude Wiley Parker and Mary Louvenia (Mamie) Couch Parker, her twin brother Clarence (Bud) Parker; her sisters, Ruth Parker Morrow and Lorene Parker Hooper; and son-in-law, Henry Thurman Meeh (Buster).
Survivors include her children, daughter Annette Smith Green (husband Maurice) of Birmingham, AL; son Larry Gene Smith (wife Jackie) of Watkinsville, GA; daughter Donna Smith Meeh of Lawrenceville, GA; six grandchildren, Alexander Green (wife Ryan Omenski) and Andrew Green of Birmingham, AL; .Michael Smith (wife Jan) of Loganville, GA; Jeffrey Scott Smith (wife Susan) Watkinsville, GA; Chad Meeh and Shannon Meeh of Lawrenceville, GA: four great-grandchildren, Matthew Smith of Loganville, GA; Kara Ann Smith and Eli Smith of Watkinsville, GA; and Archer Green of Birmingham, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Mrs. Young is also survived by stepson, Kenneth Young of Norcross, GA; step-daughter Mildred Young Pinson (Hoyt); Janice Young Winters (Doug); four step-grandchildren, and 11 step great-grandchildren. Other survivors of Mrs. Young include her sister-in-law Rosa Lee Parker, of Gainesville, GA.
The family thanks with grateful hearts the volunteers of Meals on Wheels for their warmth and service to Mrs. Young, and the employees of Suncrest Home Health for their loving care. Also, they thank members of New Bridge Church who faithfully prayed, called, visited, sent cards, and notes of encouragement during her illness.
