Carrie Wilkinson Parsons

Carrie Wilkinson Parsons, age 92, of Cornelia, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2017.

Mrs. Parsons was born on October 5, 1924 and raised in Banks County, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Luke and Maggie Holcomb Wilkinson. Mrs. Parsons was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 69 years, Cleveland N. “Buck” Parsons. Carrie graduated from Baldwin High School in 1943. She was a member of Tates Creek Baptist Church. She was a loving wife and mother and took pride in her work. Carrie loved flower and vegetable gardening as well as cooking for her family.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Robert Shapiro, Cornelia; son, William Michael “Bill” Parsons, Lula; grandson, Derek Shapiro, Athens; granddaughter, Kimberly Shapiro and her husband, Jason Looney, Athens; and great-granddaughter, Scarlett Briar Looney, Athens. She was the youngest of seven siblings who all preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, April 28, 2017, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia, with Rev. Jerrell Beatty officiating. Interment will follow in Tates Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Thursday, April 27, 2017, at the funeral home.
