Mr. Maurice Jackson “Jack” Hemphill, age 87 of Toccoa passed away Sunday, April 23, 2017 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
A son of the late Lester J. and Bernice Segars Hemphill, he was born September 1, 1929 in Franklin County, Georgia having lived most of his life in Stephens County. He was retired from Coats and Clark having served as maintenance superintendent for a long number of years. He was a member and former deacon of Liberty Hill Baptist Church and was a member of Masonic Lodge #309. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Simmons Hemphill in 2012.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Tina Hemphill of McKinney, Texas; grandsons, Greg Knapp and Chris Hemphill; great-grandson, Duncan Hemphill; two brothers and sister-in-law, Horace Hemphill and Roger and Sara Hemphill both of Toccoa; two sisters, Jean Worthy of Hiawassee and Joan Agnew of Toccoa; a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Friday, April 28, 2017, 11 O’clock AM in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Jerry Stowe officiating.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 27, 2 P.M. until 4 P.M. and 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. Online condolences can be made at www.acree-davisfh.com.
