James Roy Johnson, Jr., 44, of Austin Texas, formerly of Dawsonville passed away Thursday April 13, 2017.
Mr. Johnson specialized in scientific research and was the manager of regulatory affairs with the Luminex Corp. He was formerly employed with Dawson County E.M.S. and the Center of Disease Control. Roy was a 1990 graduate of Dawson County High School and earned his masters degree from McPherson University. While attending DCHS he excelled in football, track and weightlifting where he held several national records. When he was 15 and 16 years of age, he was known as the world’s strongest teenager.
Surviving are his parents, James Roy, Sr. and Betty Johnson, Gainesville; sister and brother in law, Jennifer and Scott Christopher, Dawsonville; brother, Jason Johnson, Dawsonville; and nephew, Cody Christopher.
Memorial services will be held Thursday April 20, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Scott Christopher will officiate.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5 until 6:30.
