Talmadge Whitmire

Talmadge Whitmire, age 84, of Mt. Airy, Georgia passed away on Friday, April 14, 2017.

Mr. Whitmire was born on March 12, 1933 in Dawsonville, Georgia to the late William McKinley and Lula Carnes Whitmire. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his first wife, Betty LaPrade Whitmire; sons, Chester McKinley Whitmire, Michael Dean Whitmire; sisters, Ellen Hammond, Opal Hammond, Josephine Nix, Betty Cahill, Lillian Whitmire, and Martha Jean Whitmire; brothers, Emmett Whitmire, William McKinley Whitmire, Jr., Gerald Whitmire, and Jerry Whitmire. Mr. Whitmire was a member of Hazel Creek Baptist Church. He was a retired Truck Delivery Driver with Flowers Bakery Company with 31 years of service.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Parker Whitmire, of Mt. Airy; son and daughter-in-law, Clark and Caprice Whitmire, of Mt. Airy; sisters, Joy Whitmire Dixon, of Clarkesville, Darlena Whitmire Church, of Clarkesville; Lynn Whitmire Sims, of Clarkesville; grandchildren, Amanda Dubois, Brittany Whitmire, Joshua Whitmire, Anna Whitmire; great-grandchildren, Colin Whitmire, and Emily Dubois.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel with Rev. Trent Smith and Rev. Billy Burrell officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, April 17, 2017  at the funeral home.
