Joann H. Leonard, 82, of Dawsonville passed away Wednesday April 12, 2017 at her residence following a period of declining health.
Born August 2, 1934 in Floyd County to the late Henry H. and Mary Lou Haney, she had lived in Dawson County for the past 38 years having moved from Austell. Joann worked in the Magnolia Room at Rich’s where she retired after over 20 years of service. For eight years she served as an officer in the Atlanta Police Department. Joann was also preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Alford E. Leonard; sisters, Geraldine Terry, Cora Mae Purdy; and brothers, James Haney, Joseph Haney. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Surviving are her children, Brenda and Ron Chumbley, Dawsonville, Dennis and Denise Leonard, Dallas, GA; sister and brother in law, Debra Jo and Kevin Guess, Canton; eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Friday April 14, 2017 at 11 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Mike Owens will officiate. Interment services will follow at Georgia Memorial Park in Marietta, GA at 2 o’clock.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 until 8.
