Betty Childress

Mrs. Betty Childress, age 86, of Jefferson passed away on Thursday April 6, 2017 at Athens Regional Hospital following a brief illness.

Graveside Services will be held on Monday April 10, 2017: at 6:00p.m in Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Clack Stubbs officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday April 10, 2017 from 4:30-6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Childress was born on August 05, 1930 in Gastonia, North Carolina to the late J. Carl Grigg and Ottie Price Grigg. She was a retired educator and was a member of New Holland Methodist Church.  Mrs. Childress and her husband Mr. Rudolph Childress previously lived in New Holland for a number of years.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Joseph Rudolph Childress, daughter, Pamela Jean Childress, and sister, Elsie Celeste Grigg Edwards.

Mrs. Childress is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Tommy Rudolph Childress (Cynthia Jarrard) of Jefferson, daughter and son in law, Kimberly Childress Boudreau (Robert Allen) of Braselton,  8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, brother and sister-in-law, Jay Harold Grigg (Ann Sorrells) of St. Louis, MO, brother, Bill Grigg of Gainesville, and several nieces and nephews.
