Charles Efford “Buddy” Underwood, age 78 of Alto, Georgia passed away on Sunday, April 02, 2017.
Born in Habersham County, Georgia on July 09, 1938, he was a son of the late Arthur P. Underwood & Viattie Irvin Underwood. Mr. Underwood was a veteran, having served his country proudly in the United States Navy. He retired from Warren Featherbone Company and was a truck driver for Davidson Pallet Company for many years. Mr. Underwood enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, and camping. He attended Yonah Congregational Holiness Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers & sisters-in-law, Luther & Kathleen Underwood, Lee & Betty Jean Underwood, Noah Underwood, Loy Underwood, and Eugene Underwood, sister, Ruby Thompson, father-in-law & mother-in-law, Will & Josephine Hart, brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Roe & Lurlene Hart, Lionel & Irma Hart, Archie & Maxine Hart, Nathaniel & Shirley Hart, Harold Crumley, sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Winnie & Gene Echols.
Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Ruth Hart Underwood of Alto, GA; son, Robert Underwood of Alto, GA; granddaughter, Derra C. Underwood of Gainesville, GA; sister, Mozell York of Atlanta, GA; sister-in-law, Pauline Underwood of Mt. Airy, GA; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Kenneth & Geraldine Hart of Cornelia; Grady & Gail Hart of Alto, GA; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, & friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 07, 2017 at the Yonah Congregational Holiness Church with the Rev. Sanford Kimbrell and the Rev. John Umberhant officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery with military honors provided by the United States Navy.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 p.m. & 6-8 p.m. on Thursday.
