Franklin Royce Griffin Jr.

Funeral services are scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Saturday April 1, 2017 at Dunagans Chapel United Methodist Church for Franklin Royce Griffin Jr., age 89 of Gillsville. Mary Lee Griffin, Wilma Griffin Abney and Christos Nicolaou will officiate. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Griffin passed away Wednesday March 29, 2017.

Mr. Griffin was born in Jackson County to the late Franklin Royce Griffin Sr. and Jeanette Brock Griffin. He graduated school at Gillsville and served in the U.S. Army Airforce during World War II. He was a farmer and member of A.S.C.S. and Dunagan Chapel United Methodist Church.

Survivors include wife, Edith Cavell Hawkins Griffin, Gillsville; son, Franklin Royce Griffin III, Gillsville, daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen (Kathy) A. Griffin, Cambridge, MA; Mary E. Griffin (Richard Cameron), Mt. Pleasant, SC; Sarah (Sally) E. Griffin (Christos Nicolaou), Gillsville; grandchildren, Georgianna Griffin West, CA; Edith (Edie) Ismene Nicolaou-Griffin, Gillsville; Loucas (Louie) Griffin, Gillsville; 4 great grandchildren, brother and sister-in-law, Bradley and Mary Lee Griffin, nephew, Bradley B. Griffin Jr. (Tammy), and niece Jane Buffington (Doug Buffington), grandnieces, grandnephews and other relatives.
