Joseph “Joe” Elwood Irvin

Mr. Joseph “Joe” Elwood Irvin, age 70 of Deep Creek Road, Dewey Rose, Georgia and formerly of Toccoa passed away Monday, March 27, 2017 at the Elbert Memorial Hospital.

A son of the late Homer Elwood and Vivian Esther Stiner Irvin, he was born May 25, 1946 in Clearfield, Pennsylvania having lived most of his life in Toccoa.  He worked over 20 years as an LPN having worked with Tugalo Home Health Agency, Toccoa Nursing Center and Stephens County Hospital.  He was a member of Rock Quarry Congregational Holiness Church where he served as Children’s Church Minister, played the piano and sang in the choir.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Irvin and by five siblings.

Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Jo and Tim Bohannon and Mandy Thomas both of Dewey Rose, Georgia and Dale and Matt Fisher of Elberton, Georgia; son, Jeremy Irvin; brother, John Irvin of Pennsylvania; two sisters, Sarah Amon and Judy Owens both of Pennsylvania and grandchildren, Jordan Bohannon, Danielle Bohannon, Tyler Irvin, Taryn Thomas and Eliza Fisher.

Memorial services will be Friday, March 31, 2017, 4 O’clock P.M. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Edward Hood officiating.

The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Friday from 2 P.M. until the service time.  Online condolences can be made at www.acree-davisfh.com.

Inurnment will follow in Toccoa City Cemetery with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements for Mr. “Joe” Irvin.
