Walter McCline Holcomb

Mr. Walter McCline Holcomb, 88 of Gainesville, Ga passed away Thursday, March 23, 2017 at his residence.

Walter was born in Hall County August 5, 1928.  Walter joined the US Navy in 1950 and retired after 24 years as Senior Chief Petty Officer.  He was a member of New Bridge Baptist Church.  Walter was also a member of Murrayville Masonic Lodge, Stone Lodge, and Yokosuka Lodge, Japan.  He was a 60 year Mason.  He also belonged to Lanier Club of Yaarab Shrine and Yaarab Temple of Atlanta.  He received many awards for his collection efforts for the Shriners Children’s Hospitals. 

Walter was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Fumiko (Jackie) Kira Holcomb; his parents Claud & Montine Holcomb; sister Irene Holcomb Martin; brothers Cecil Holcomb and John Holcomb.

He is survived by his sister Ernestine Holcomb Dale and 14 nieces and nephews.

Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, April 23, 2017 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Little & Davenport Funeral Home.  Private interment will be held at a later date in the Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, GA.
