Alan Lewis Kates

Mr. Alan Lewis Kates age 50 of Cumming passed away on Friday March 24, 2017 at Emory University Hospital, Atlanta following an extended illness.

          Funeral services are scheduled for Monday March 27, 2017 at 3:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Johnson Bowie will officiate. The family will receive friends on Monday March 27, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

          Mr. Kates was born on October 20, 1966 in Malden, Massachusetts to Marshall Kates and Roslyn Lippman Ziegler. He was retired from Publix supermarkets and he attended Victory World Church at Hamilton Mill. Alan also served as a Fast pitch Softball Coach for many years.

          Alan is survived by his wife of 23 years, Karen Kates of Cumming, daughter, Danielle Kates of Cumming, daughter, Samantha Kates of Cumming,  mother and step-father, Roslyn Ziegler (Robert) of Hendersonville, NC, father, Marshall Kates of Boynton Beach, Florida, sister, Lori Lane of Asheville, NC, sister, Sheryl Pittoccheli of Atlanta, aunt, Joan Nathanson of Hendersonville, NC, sister-in-law, Joyce Leiker of Geneva, Florida, a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
