Duane Gordon Ross

Duane Gordon Ross, formerly of Waldwick, NJ, beloved husband of Mary Ann Rafferty Ross for over 68 years, died March 22, 2017, at the age of 92. He was an avid reader, always learning, always interested in a variety of subjects. He loved sharing what he learned with others. Duane was a very kind man, always grateful to others for their kindnesses to him. He was especially happy when he could help others. He leaves behind four daughters: Barbara Brave, Montvale, NJ; Karen Hoyt, Gainesville, GA; Diane Ross, Albuquerque, NM; and Linda Ross, Parsippany, NJ. He also leaves behind son-in-law Roger Hoyt of Gainesville, GA; three grandson Micah Hoyt, Gainesville, GA, Nathan Hoyt, Atlanta, GA, and Dale Brave, Newark, NJ. Also surviving him are four great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter. Duane credits the United States Coast Guard Academy in New London, CT, with changing his life. That is where he met his future wife. That is where he became proficient in integral calculus giving him the knowledge to begin a long career in the computer field, which was at its inception. He was a trouble shooter and problem solver every place he worked. He will be greatly missed he staunchly believed in the benefits of a good education.
