Karen Rogers Gilstrap, 65, of Lula passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2017.
Born in Toccoa, Georgia on June 1, 1951, she was a daughter of the late Sam & Gladys Hogan Rogers. Mrs. Gilstrap graduated from Banks County High School in 1969, was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed helping with the family farm, working with her husband on various construction jobs and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings and spouses, Brenda & Harold Smith, Shirley & Gene Worley and Curtis Irvin; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Clyde & Valeria Gilstrap.
Surviving are her husband, Ricky Gilstrap of Lula; son and daughter-in-law, Chris & Destiny Gilstrap of Lula; son and girlfriend, Cliff Gilstrap & Julie Dutter of Athens; grandchildren, Alban Gilstrap, Kailynn Gilstrap & Desiree Gilstrap all of Lula and Andrew Dutter and Chloe Dutter both of Athens; siblings and spouses, Gail & Ronald Rylee of Lula, Linda & Jimmy Allen of Maysville, Ernest & Judy Rogers of Hollingsworth, Carol & Dot Irvin of Toccoa, Roy Rogers of Lula, Jerry Rogers of Lula, Denis Rogers of Alto, Tommy Irvin of Mt. Airy, Delease Carland of Baldwin; sister-in-law, Betty Anne Irvin; 28 nieces & nephews and their spouses.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Sunday, March 19, 2017, from the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Strickland and Rev. Scotty Poole officiating. Interment will follow in the Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4 p.m.-9 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
