A. Winston Blumberg

A. Winston Blumberg, 76, of Dahlonega, passed away March 16, 2017 from a brief illness. Born February 17, 1941 in Columbia, SC to the late Dr. and Mrs. Max Blumberg, he moved to Atlanta at an early age growing up in the Garden Hills area.  He was a graduate of North Fulton High School and LaGrange College. He was a member of the Buckhead Boys and kept in close contact with many of his life-long friends, often attending lunches together.

His passion was cooking. He had a knack for creating his own recipes which he loved to share with his family and friends. Winston created his own BBQ sauce and dry rub which his sons continue to make today.  He also enjoyed hunting and was a member of the Flint River Sportsman’s Club for over 40 years. A salesman his entire life, he worked in the medical field selling everything from heart valves to custom orthotics. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Max and Margaret Blumberg and a sister, Margaret Louise Blumberg. He is survived by his wife, Christine, his sister Lynne Wood (Warren), his sons Read Blumberg (Beth), Woodstock, GA, Richard Blumberg (Kathryn), Holly Springs, GA, five grandchildren Ashlyn Blumberg, Thad Blumberg, Bryn Blumberg, Rylee Blumberg and Harper Blumberg.

In lieu of a service, Winston’s request was for a gathering of friends and family to celebrate his life, date and time forthcoming. Contributions may be made to your favorite charity.
