David M. Martin, Sr.

David M. Martin Sr., age 88, of Cornelia, Georgia passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2017.

Mr. Martin was born on November 27, 1928 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Andrew P. and Edith Marshall Martin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Cindy Martin. Mr. Martin was a member of Habersham Church of Christ where he served as an Elder. He was a United States Army Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Martin was an avid volleyball player with the cardiac rehab team.

Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Francine “Keta” Martin, of Cornelia, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Edie and Bill Floyd, of Chattanooga, TN; Amy and Bill Smith, of Hartwell, GA; son and daughter-in-law, David Martin, Jr. and Traca Martin, of Nashville, TN; brother and sister-in-law, Andrew P. and Mary Ann Martin, of Bervard, NC; grandchildren, Will Smith and Mari, Ben Smith and Leah, Amy Floyd, Andy Floyd, Morgan Martin, and fiancé, Conner Kent; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:30 p.m., Monday, March 13, 2017 at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel with Arthur Howard and Ron Cope officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens with Martin Davis officiating.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, March 12, 2017 at the funeral home.
