Martha Stilwell graduated to Heaven on Tuesday March 7, 2017. Her time on Earth would have been 99 years on April 21st. Her life was filled with love, joy and kindness.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday March 11, 2017 at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel. Rev. Buddy Barron and Jeff Parks will officiate. Interment will follow the service at 2:00 pm at College Park Cemetery, 3600 Adams Street College Park, Georgia 30337. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 pm on Friday March 10, 2017 at the funeral home.
She was born in St. George Georgia to Samuel Cockrell and Sarah Roberts Cockrell. After graduating high school, she studied nursing at Grady Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. She married Parker Julian Stilwell Jr. in 1938 and they set up housekeeping in College Park, Georgia. They moved to Gainesville in 1950. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, and nurse to many in her long wonderful life. She worked with Drs. McCrum, Hardamon, Hampton and Dr. Janet Johnson. She also worked with the Gainesville U.S. Forestry Department for the seniors program for over 10 years.
She was preceded in her graduation to Heaven by her loving husband Parker Stilwell Jr.; her parents Samuel and Sarah Cockrell; sisters Eleanor Sanders, Gladys (J.B) Smith, Mary Georgia (Slaton) Daughtry; brother Justin (Winnie) Cockrell; son-in-law Danny Lovell, who she loved.
She is survived by her daughters Sue Stilwell and Judy Lovell; grandsons Jeff (Reba) Parks all of Gainesville, Danny Lovell and Shaun Veres of Dunwoody, Andy (Lisa) Lovell of Gainesville, Chris Lovell of Gainesville; great grandchildren Erica Parks, Tyler (Amber) Parks, Harrison Lovell; great-great grandson David Parks. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
