Mrs. Shannon Janine Drewry-Clements, age 64, of Oakwood was called to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 5, 2017.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 11, 2017 in the Chapel of Memorial Park South Funeral Home with interment following at Memorial Park South Cemetery. Rev. Rob Bruce will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, March 10, 2017 at Memorial Park South Cemetery.
Shannon was born in Cleburne, Texas and grew up in Brownwood, Texas. She graduated from Brownwood High School and then attended North Texas State University, earning a degree in Music Arts. Following this, Shannon moved to Atlanta and began her career with ITT phone services. She married on October 25th, 1987. In 1990, she happily started her family and exited professional life. She continued to care for her immediate and extended family back home throughout her life. We always say, “You can take the girl out of Texas, but you can’t take Texas out of the girl.”
Shannon was a faithfully serving member of the McEver Road United Methodist Church and sang joyfully in the choir. Community service was also important in her life. She served as the church liaison for Gainesville Action Ministries and was a Girl Scout Troop Leader. Many a young people came to know Shannon as a confidant, mentor, and second mother. She will be greatly missed.
Shannon was preceded in death by her mother, Billie Dean Drewry; father, Sam Gatewood; and sister, Deana Donohue. She is survived by her husband, Ronald Clements; daughters, Kathryn J. Clements and Elisabeth D. Clements; brothers, Ted Drewry and Bob Gatewood; sister, Shona Pinto; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; and many loving friends who became like family to her.
