John Howard Kesler

John Howard Kesler 84, of Oakwood passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at NEGMC.  John had battled cancer for the past 5 years.

Mr. Kesler was born April 24, 1932 in Banks County, GA.  John was a faithful member of St. Paul United Methodist Church for more than 75 years. 

He served with the U. S. Army during the Korean conflict in Germany. 

John was a beloved Little League baseball coach for over 15 years.  He retired from Hardy Chevrolet in Gainesville. 

He was preceded in death by his parents James Fulton Kesler and Cora Martin Kesler; sisters and brothers-in-law Boyce and Guy Edwards, Betty and Stewart James.

Mr. Kesler is survived by his wife of 42 years, Jeanette Whitmire Kesler; his daughter and son-in law Melinda and Mike Seeman and children Lucien, Chandler, and Spencer; daughter Kayla Kesler and children Madeline and John Fulton; daughter and son-in-law Jessica and Ben Shirley and children Ayden, Lucas, Isaac and Charlie Grace; step-son and wife Gene and Christina Jackson; special niece Debbie Pierce and Kay Marlowe; special nephew Ronnie Edwards and a host of other special nieces, nephews, cousins, and relatives. 

Funeral services will be Friday, March 3, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at St Paul United Methodist Church on Washington Street.  Officiating will be Rev. Geoffrey Grubbs and Rev. Earl Pirkle.  Interment will be in Alta Vista Cemetery will full Military Honors.  The family will receive friends Thursday, March 2, 2017 at the funeral home from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m.
