Lottie Mae O'Kelley Ledford

Obituary Date: Tuesday, February 28, 2017

Mrs. Lottie Mae O’Kelley Ledford, age 100 of Dahlonega, Georgia passed away on February 28, 2017.  Mrs. Ledford was born February 22, 1917 and a native of Lumpkin County.  She was a member for 76 years of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. She was also a member of The Woodmen Of The World Fraternal Organization.

Mrs. Ledford was known by all as “Mama Lottie”.  She loved her family, church and community. Mama Lottie loved flowers, gardening and quilting, but most of all spending time with her family and friends.  She was the “rock” of her family and community.

“Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her....her children rise up and call her blessed”. Proverbs 31:10-28

Lottie is preceded in death by husband of 73 years, Jack W. Ledford; her parents Ed and Gussie Chapman O’Kelley, sisters Willie Lou and Leona O’Kelley, and son-in-law Reggie Gable.

Lottie is survived by her daughter Farrell Gable of Dahlonega, GA; grandchildren Shannon and Margie Gable of Dawsonville, GA; Michele and Bobby Ray of Dahlonega, GA; great-grandchildren Seth and Beccah McCrary, Sara McCrary, Dylan and Reanna Brown, Luke Ray, and Adam Ray; great-great-grandchild Olivia Grace McCrary;  nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church.  She will lie in state at the church beginning at 1:00 p.m.

Rev. Les Fuller, Rev. Phillip Robinson, Rev. Casey Robinson, Rev. Roger Dunagan, and Rev. Stephen Gerrells will officiate.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday March 1, 2017 beginning at 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. and again on Thursday beginning at 10 a.m. until departure time for church.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Taylor Henson, Dawn Sosebee, PA,  and their nursing staff for many years of care.  Many thanks to caregivers Ms. Connie Couch and Ms. Robin Grizzle for their love and support.   The family also appreciates the care given by Northeast GA Hospice Care.

Flowers will be accepted or donations can be made to Mt. Gilead Baptist Church.
