Alexander Funeral Home of Cleveland announces the death of Mrs. Viola Stanton Negra, age 90 of Sautee.
Mrs. Negra passed away Monday, February 27, 2017. “Viola” was born in Washington D.C. on May 28, 1926 to the late Jack Stanton and Vangie Jones Stanton. As a young woman, Viola was involved with the Selective Service System during WWII and was an active member of the Women’s Army Volunteer Service. In 1946, Viola married Andy Negra and became loving wife and mother, she did however find time to pursue her interests which included quilting and crafting as well as playing the Dulcimer, baking and sewing.
In 1991, she and Andy moved to White County they were active members of Nacoochee United Methodist church and where Viola was an active member of the White County Historical Society. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Andy Negra, of Sautee; daughter, Mary Owens of Sautee; sons, Steven Negra (Bobbie) of Concord, NC and Michael Negra (Wanda) of Centre Hall, PA. She is also survived by her 2 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00pm, Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Nacoochee United Methodist Church with Rev. Keith Windmiller officiating, interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 5:00 to 8:00pm.
