Jo Ann Collins Lovell

Mrs. Jo Ann Collins Lovell, age 84, of Gainesville, Georgia peacefully passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2017. Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 26, 2017, at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel in Gainesville, Ga. Interment will follow at Alta Vista Cemetery. Dr. Bill Coates will officiate at the Chapel and the Rev. John Eldridge will officiate at graveside. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00-3:00 p.m. on Sunday, prior to the funeral service.
 
Mrs. Lovell was born on December 4, 1932, in Athens, Georgia and was raised by her father and grandparents (R.W. and Ann Welch) after the death of her mother following childbirth. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Maxwell Collins and Annie Belle Bryant Collins; her loving husband of 61 years, Dr. V.C. Lovell; and their infant son, V.C. Lovell II. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She had a passion for cooking, baking, and flower gardens. There was always room for one more seat at her kitchen table and everyone always went home with a full stomach.  

Survivors include her children; Charles Lovell (Lynn), Gainesville; David Lovell (Ruth Ann), LaFollette, Tennessee; Rusty Lovell (Jan), Gainesville; Michael Lovell, Gainesville; Deborah Lovell Turansky, (Todd), Augusta, GA; John Lovell, (Janna), Gainesville; Deitra Lovell, Gainesville. Grandchildren, Michael John Lovell, (Amy), Tifton, GA; Jason Lovell, Atlanta, GA; Dr. Shelly Lovell Pound (Jep), Greensboro, GA; Clayton Lovell, Norcross, GA; Spencer Lovell (Katie), Gainesville; Luke Lovell and Hunter Lovell, Gainesville. Great granddaughters Harper Lovell, Tifton, GA; and Eva Pound of Greensboro, GA.

The family would like to thank the medical and nursing staff at Northeast Georgia Medical Center and the Hospice Unit staff for their compassion and care.
