Mrs. Althea Margaret Parr was born in Jackson County on August 6, 1932 to late Nell Shields and I. V. Davis. She departed this life on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at her long time residency in Commerce, Georgia. She attended Bryan High School and was beloved midwife to many Jackson County residents. She was a nurse at BJC Hospital in Commerce for over 25 years. In addition to being a beloved nurse, she also was a skilled seamstress for the Commerce community. Throughout her beautiful life, she was blessed and privileged to travel around the world and every state except Idaho and Michigan. She also was one of the founding entrepreneurs of the J&J Flea Market in Athens, GA from 1989 until 2001.
Margaret was married to the late Donald L. Parr, who preceded her in death. She is survived by three children: Nancy (Willie) Moore of Conyers, GA; Yvette (Marion) Marshall and Micah D. Parr of Commerce, Ga. Preceding her in death are her beloved daughter – Mattie (Coot) Holder and son - David (Sandra) Harris. Margaret is survived by a sister - Ruby Nell Johnson of Tennessee and a brother - Ronald Johnson of Maine. She was preceded in death by her brother - Robert "Bobby" Johnson of California and Charles Davis of Georgia.
She has a total of 17 grandkids, 38 great-grandkids, and 44 great-great grandkids who loving called her "Namommie ". In addition, Margaret has a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss her greatly.
A special thanks goes out to her caregivers - Mrs. Geneva Cooper and Mrs. Kim Wooten. An additional special thanks to Ms. Audrey Strickland and Ms. Rebecca Bush.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 Noon on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Ivie Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Sam Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Jackson Memorial Park, 6825 Jefferson Rd., Commerce, GA. The family will receive friends 5-6 pm Friday February 24, 2017 at the funeral home but Mrs. Parr body will be open for public viewing starting at noon Friday.
Flower Ladies will be Kiara Holder, Taliyah Johnson, Jordyn Johnson, Nakyra Strickland, LaTonya Harris, and Kiki Harris.
Pallbearers will be Antwanne Jackson, JaQuan Harris, Jovanti Jones, LeChaney Hughes, Marshal Varnum, and Shawn Morris.
