Ronald J. Petrie

Mr. Ronald J. Petrie, age 75, of Flowery Branch passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center – Gainesville, following his brief battle with cancer.

Memorial Services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 24, 2017 in the Chapel of Memorial Park South Funeral Home.  Rev. Sandra Skinner will officiate.  The family will receive friends 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 24, 2017 at Memorial Park South Funeral Home.

Mr. Petrie was born July 20, 1941 to the late Harry & Helen Petrie in Wooster, Ohio.  He was a member of Oakwood First United Methodist Church, the Gainesville Hall Metropolitan Planning Organization, the South Hall Community Food Pantry and was an Elf for the Kiwanis Santa Delivery in Portage Lakes, Ohio.  Mr. Petrie was a graduate of North High School and the University of Akron, where he was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity.  A Retired Lieutenant Colonel of the United States Marine Corp., Mr. Petrie was a member of Vietnam Vets Chapter #772 and Mended Hearts Chapter #302.  He was also retired from Liberty Mutual Insurance.   An all around nice person, he loved fishing and volunteering at the Oakwood VA Clinic. 

Mr. Petrie is survived by his wife, Sandy Petrie of Flowery Branch; son & daughter-in-law, Matthew & Christie Petrie of Coarsegold, California; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Alex and Helena; sister & brother-in-law, Judy & Larry Hunter of Portage Lakes, Ohio; and many nieces & nephews.
