Sylvia Janine (Buffington) Poole

Sylvia Janine (Buffington) Poole, age 82 of Gainesville, passed away on February 20, 2017. 

Sylvia was born on November 29, 1934 to the late Harvey and Wilma (Jones) Buffington in Gainesville. She was married to the late Jacob E. “J.E.” Poole for 62 years.  Sylvia was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church and volunteered her time to Maranatha Christian Academy.  She was both a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed cooking, home canning, bird watching, singing gospel music with her family and caring for her family.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother Maxie Buffington and sister Sue Jenkins.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Debbie and Larry Hirt, Teresa and Dewayne England, Sherry Dunn, Kristi and Skye Perry all of Gainesville, Lisa and Doug Segars of Mebane, NC, Frieda and Delma Simmons of Lula; son and daughter-in-law Jeff and Deborah Poole of Pensacola, FL; sister Helen Hooper; brother Jerry Buffington; grandchildren Austin, Natalie, Amy, Niki, Brandon, Jaclyn, Chelsea, Abby, Caroline, Tyler, Madison, David, Danielle, Gina and Robin; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.  A special acknowledgment goes to Frieda and Delma Simmons for their years of complete devotion to our mother and father.

A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Thursday February 23, 2017 at Timber Ridge Baptist Church, 4895 Timber Ridge Road, Gainesville, Georgia 30507. The family will receive friends from 5pm-8pm on Wednesday February 22, 2017 at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel.
