Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00pm Thursday February 23, 2017 at Montgomery Memorial Baptist Church for Cecil England Boswell, 99, of Gainesville, Ga. The Rev. Larry Boswell, Rev. Billy Emmitt and Rev. Jimmy Campbell will officiate. Burial will follow at Alta Vista Cemetery with Military Honors. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Boswell passed away Sunday February 19, 2017.
Mr. Boswell was born October 22, 1917 in Jackson County and was the son of the late Sherman and Ruth Norris Boswell. His family moved to Gainesville Mill when he was 8 years old, where he grew up and lived most all his life. Mr. Boswell served in the U.S. Army 22nd Infantry, 4th Division, and was part of the second wave of the D-Day Invasion of Normandy. In 1944 his Division helped in the Liberation of Paris. After the war, he returned home and married Bonnie Mae Dean Boswell. He worked in the Gainesville Mill, New Holland Mill and as an Electrician. Mr. Boswell was a member of Montgomery Memorial Baptist Church since 1930. He was always willing to help anyone and was a friend to all that knew him. Mr. Boswell loved being with his friends at the Big Bear Café. He was well known for being in the annual Memorial Day Parade in Gainesville. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Bonnie Mae Boswell and brother Rev. Fulton Boswell.
Survivors include daughter & son-in-law, Rachel & G. Mac Worthington, Atlanta, Ga, nephew Rev. Larry Boswell, Temple, Ga and niece & husband, Lynn Boswell & Thom Chapman, St. Simons Island, Ga.
