Chad Douglas Tanksley, age 43 of Cornelia, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2017, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Born in Habersham County on September 2, 1973, he was a son of the late Charlie Douglas Tanksley. Chad worked for a number of years at Cody Road Workshop and was of the Baptist faith. In his spare time he enjoyed reading, wood working, and automobiles.
In addition to his father, Chad was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Clarence & Ruby Anderson and Charlie & Estelle Tanksley; mother-in-law, Donna Crews Owen.
Surviving are his wife of 19 years, Allison Owen of Cornelia; mother, Judy Anderson Tanksley of Cornelia; sister, Amy Tanksley of Cornelia; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Keith & Pam Owen of Mt. Airy; sister-in-law and spouses, Jennifer & Matt Shirley of Gainesville, Amanda & Zane Stewart of Cornelia, and Kayla & Adam Westmoreland of Mt. Airy; nieces, Harper and Erin Shirley; nephews, Owen Shirley and Benjamin Stewart; also surviving are several aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family and friends.
Memorial services are 2 pm Wednesday, February 22, 2017, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Dr. Phil DeMore officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 pm on Tuesday.
