Bernice Zuverink Dokter, age 99, of Cornelia, Georgia, went to her Heavenly home on Friday, February 17, 2017.
Mrs. Dokter was born on May 23, 1917 in Holland, Michigan to the late George and Jennie Zuverink . In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Henry Dokter; sisters, Anne Norman, Alyce Maatman; brothers, Ben Zuverink, Ken Zuverink, Gord Zuverink, George Zuverink, Vernon Zuverink; and great-grandson, Austin Gregory Sprayberry. Mrs. Dokter and her husband, moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida in 1956 and in 1980 began living winters in Ft. Lauderdale and summers in Baldwin, Georgia. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Cornelia, and a member of the Presbyterian Women. Mrs. Dokter was a volunteer at Habersham Medical Center with 20 years of loyal service. She was retired from the Decorating Studio of Britt’s Department Store in Ft. Lauderdale.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Ron Sprayberry, of Cornelia, GA; Janice and Ron White, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Sheila Dokter, of Ft. Myers, FL; sisters-in-law, Mary Zuverink, of Holland, MI; Betty Zuverink, of Tempe, AZ; Ina May Zuverink, of Quinlan, TX; grandchildren, Tammie Gerrin, of Clarkesville, GA; Greg and Lisa Sprayberry, of Mt. Airy, GA; Mitzi and Brad Donaldson, of Alto, GA; Lisa and David Hench, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Jodi and Ken White, of Senoia, GA; Justin and Mandy Dokter, of Indian Trails, NC; nine great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
An Interment will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at Baldwin City Cemetery.
A Memorial Service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Cornelia with Dr. James Oudom officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church following the memorial service.
