Dr. Johnny “Butch” Jett, Jr

Dr. Johnny “Butch” Jett, Jr., age 69, of Clarkesville, Georgia, graduated to Heaven on Thursday, February 16, 2017.

Dr. Jett was born on February 11, 1948, in Chamblee, Georgia; a son of the late Johnny William Jett, Sr. and Louise Caldwell Jett. He was a United States Army Veteran having proudly served his country. Dr. Jett was Missionary Chaplain at Lee Arrendale State Prison with 26 years of service. He was active in the Rock of Ages Ministries and a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine P. Jett, Clarkesville, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Johnny “Jay” Jett and Robin, Lawrenceville, GA; sister, Sheila Jett, Jefferson, GA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Nina and Phillip Hulsey, Mt. Airy, GA and Sherri and Carlos Reed, Pendergrass, GA; grandchildren, Cody Jett and wife, Taylor and Cameron Jett; and great-grandchildren, Jayce and Emma Grace.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, February 19, 2017, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia, with Rev. Donald Grizzle and Rev. Shannon Irvin officiating. Interment will follow in Gethsemane Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 pm on Saturday, February 18, 2017, at the funeral home.
