Larry R. Milford, age 70, of Hiawassee, a 50 year resident of Cumming, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2017. A true Southern gentleman and proud American, he always made a stranger feel welcome and was a friend to all. Larry retired from American Proteins, Inc. and Brasstown Valley Golf Course. Following retirement, he fulfilled his lifelong dream of living in the mountains. He was an avid golfer and loved the time spent disassembling his family home place from the Matt Community; rebuilding it in Hiawassee where he and Ann have lived for the past 20 years. A lifelong Baptist, Larry was also a member of Mt. Zion Lodge #316, F&AM. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Floy Milford.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Ann Watson Milford of Hiawassee; daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Todd Morgan of Dawsonville; son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Kim Milford of Cumming; grandchildren, Abby (Jacob) Taylor, Conner Milford, Jackson Morgan, Channing Milford, Cooper Milford; great grandson, Liam Taylor; sisters, Helen Green of Ball Ground, Bobbie Young of Ball Ground; brother, Lyndon Milford and Judy Gaddis of Ball Ground; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 16, at 2:00 p.m. at the Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ruel Martin and Rev. Truel Joe Martin officiating. Masonic rites will follow the service.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Larry’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society.
