Roy Douglas McWhorter

Mr. Roy Douglas McWhorter, 62, of Lula passed away February 12, 2017 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.

          A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 16, 2017 in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home.  Rev. Drewery Loggins will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, February 16, 2017 from 12:30 p.m. the service hour.

          Born on January 12, 1955 in Durham, NC he was the son of the late Benny Floyd and Sarah Barnhill McWhorter. He was a truck driver for Carroll Tire Co. and was of the Baptist Faith.

          Mr. McWhorter is survived by his fiancé, Deborah Adams of Lula; daughter and son in law, Brandi McWhorter-Grindle and Shane Grindle of Flowery Branch; sons, Troy Douglas McWhorter of Tallahassee, FL, Ryan Mitchell McWhorter of Tallahassee, FL., David Douglas McWhorter of Charleston, SC.; grandson, Grayson Gabriel Grindle; brother and sister in law, Bennie McWhorter and Terry Weimann of Bakersville, NC and several nieces and nephews.

          Flowers will be accepted however those desiring may send memorial contributions to The Humane Society of Northeast Georgia.
