Macey S. Shelton

Macey S. Shelton, 78, of Dawsonville passed away Wednesday February 8, 2017 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a period of declining health.

Born May 7, 1938 to the late Russell and Cena Staley, she had been a resident of Dawsonville for a short time coming from Gaston County, NC.  Macey retired from R.L. Stowe Mills where she worked for a number of years at the Chronicle Plant.  A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she loved to sing, make flower arrangements and put together puzzles.  She is also preceded in death by her husband, Howard Morris Shelton; sons, Howard William Shelton, Michael Dean Shelton; a number of brothers and sisters.

Surviving are her children, Alice Humphrey, Lincolnton, NC, Sharon (Doug) Poole, Lowell, NC, Marie Shelton, Fayetteville, NC, Rose Lynn (Gerald) Chumbley, Dawsonville, R.J. (Shirley) Shelton, Holden Beach, NC, James Shelton, Denver, NC, Paul Shelton, Belmont, NC; sisters and brother in law, Ann (Carl) Singleton, Brunswick, GA, Judy Knight, Alma, GA; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and other relatives.

Memorial services will be held Saturday February 11, 2017 at 4 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel.  Rev. Mike Owens will officiate.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 3 o’clock until the service hour.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to help offset final expenses.
