Daniel J. Hanlon

Obituary Date: Friday, February 3, 2017

Mr. Daniel J. Hanlon, Jr. 88, of Marietta, GA passed away on Friday, February 3, 2017.  A St. Paul, MN native,

he was born on May 6, 1928 to the late Daniel and Myrtle Foix Hanlon, Sr. of St. Paul, MN.

A Memorial Gathering will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Private Interment will be in Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, GA.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.  

Dan, a devoted husband, and loving father traveled the world with his wife Evelyn. He was proud of his service in the US Marine Corps (Korean War). Semper Fi. He generously volunteered his talents to the American Red Cross Disaster Response Team, Rotary International, and American Legion. He retired as an Executive from The St. Paul Fire and Marine Insurance Company.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Hedrick Hanlon. Survived by sons; Patrick (Jane McCauley) Hanlon, Thomas Hanlon, daughters; Mary (James) Selbitschka, Carol (Duncan Niven) Hanlon, and Anne (Chris) Hanlon-Meyer; grandchildren, Erin Saunders, Kelly Barton, Devin Hanlon, Daniel Hanlon, Michael Hanlon, Briana Hanlon, Katherine Badey, Cheryl Campbell, Grace Meyer, Ruby Meyer; step grandchildren, Emma Perman and Abigail Perman; and 10 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Marine Corps League, Commandant, Detachment #665, 85 Doubletree Circle, Dahlonega, GA 30533.
