Dewell L. Allison

Mr. Dewell L. Allison, age 86, of Chestnut Mountain passed away Monday, January 30, 2017 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Braselton, following a brief illness, surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 2, 2017 in the Chapel of Memorial Park South Funeral Home with interment to follow at Memorial Park South Cemetery.  Rev. Phil Carpenter will officiate.  The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Memorial Park South Funeral Home.

Mr. Allison was born June 10, 1930 to the late Ross & Bessie Allison in Gainesville.  He was a member of Oakwood Baptist Church, formerly a member and Deacon of Chestnut Mountain Baptist Church.  A loving husband and father, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Ila Allison, who passed away in June of 2014.  He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Carolyn Clark and Merle Chandler.

Mr. Allison is survived by his sons & daughters-in-law, Ronny & Theresa Allison of Winder, Jerry & Rhoda Allison of Chestnut Mountain; and Terry & Dorothy Allison of Chestnut Mountain; grandchildren, Derick Allison, Cory Allison, Clint Bryson, Ben Allison, and Joanne Allison; great-grandchildren Rachel Fuller, Autumn Powell, Kylie Allison, Aubrie Allison, Chas Ferm and Reese Ferm; sister & brother-in-law, Annie Ruth & Dave Ivey of Chestnut Mountain; sister, Marie Long of Chestnut Mountain; brother & sister-in-law, Dilmous & Rita Allison of Chestnut Mountain, brother, Horace Allison and Mary Lou Caughron of Chestnut Mountain; and numerous nieces and nephews.
