Horace Fitzpatrick

Horace James Fitzpatrick, age 87 of Cleveland, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at his residence.

Mr. Fitzpatrick was born on January 18, 1930 to the late Earnest Obediah and Chester Bonnie White Fitzpatrick.  He was a retired educator from the White County School System where he taught for 17 years and also served as school superintendent for 12 years.  Mr. Fitzpatrick worked at Pioneer Resa for 5 years and also worked 10 years for the Georgia State Department of Education.  He was a member of Mossy Creek United Methodist Church.  Mr. Fitzpatrick was preceded in death by his son, Rev. David Fitzpatrick; 10 siblings.

Survivors include his wife, Bertie Mae Fitzpatrick, Cleveland; daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Lynn Smith, Cleveland, Angie and Darren Sledge, Cleveland; sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Donna Fitzpatrick, Cleveland, Roger and Linda Fitzpatrick, Cleveland; daughter-in-law, Margie Fitzpatrick, Braselton; sisters, Chester Mae Wylder, Stockbridge, and Martha Davis, Greenville, South Carolina; 14 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at Mossy Creek United Methodist Church.  The Rev. Richard Davis, the Rev. Don Landen, Mr. Mark Fitzpatrick and Mr. Roger Fitzpatrick will officiate.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
