Franklin “Frankie” Childers, 71, of Gainesville, GA, died January 20th, 2017 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness.
Franklin “Frankie” Childers was born on November 11th, 1945 to the late S.T. and Agnes Childers in Gainesville, Ga. He attended Fair Street as well as courses at Lanier Technical College. He served our country in the Vietnam War and was an Honorable Discharge in 1967. Upon his return, he married his sweetheart Annette and started his family whom he adored greatly. He also started his career at Guilford Mills servicing there for over 30 years before it close and went on to Packaging Specialty until retirement in 2011.
He is preceded in death by his parents, S.T. and Agnes Childers, wife, Mary Annette Childers, daughter Lisa Renee Childers, and brothers James and Cornelis “T.J.” Childers.
Frankie was a sweet, kind hearted type of man that enjoyed the simple things in life. He was so easy going that he was like a buddy to everyone he came across. He enjoyed fishing, attending sports events, and was a true Atlanta Falcons and University of Georgia fan. He had a special place in his heart for spending time with his grandchildren supporting and spoiling them as much as he could. He also was the kind of person that would stop by out of the blue to catch up with family and friends just to check on you to see how you were doing.
Frankie leaves to cherish his memories his son Taurus (Jennifer) Childers, daughter Shemila (Marty) Thompson, grandchildren: Shatora Butler, Justice Childers, Iriana Thompson, Tray Childers, Alexandra and Anna Childers. His beloved mother-in-law: Martha Hunter. In-laws: Ed and Barbara Cook. Three sister-in-law’s: Viola Childers, Barbara(Charles)Wilburn, Kimbler Alexander. Four brother-in-law’s: James Edward(Nancy)Shields, Ernest Shield, James Henry(Gail)Pulliam. One Niece: Ms. Whitney Few. Four nephews: Victor Childers, Stacey Childers, Eric Childers and Michael Few. Three grand-pups: Wyatt, Kloe, Kash, and a host of family and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday January 24, 2017 at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel.
