Johnny Cecil Swain

Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mr. Johnny Cecil Swain, age 68 of Jefferson, Georgia who entered into rest Wednesday, January 18, 2017.  Mr. Swain was born in Commerce, Georgia a son of the late Everett John Swain and the late Bessie Irene Williamson Swain, was a member of Jefferson Church and was retired from Shoffner Industries.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Swain is preceded by a brother, Lewis Swain and a sister, Ruby Standridge.

Survivors include his wife of forty-seven years, Faye Strickland Swain of Jefferson, a son, Lee Swain of Jefferson, daughter Tonya Swain Harris and her husband Jeff of Jefferson.  Five sisters, Jennie Hardman of Commerce, Vivian Gray and her husband Felton of Carnesville, Stella Hooper and her husband Gene of Commerce, Leilia Price and her husband Dewitt of Commerce, Linda Shelby of Elberton and a brother Ralph Swain and his wife Hazel of Ila.  Two grandchildren, Dakota and Walker Harris also survive.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M. Saturday, January 21, 2017 from the Jefferson Church with Reverend Nick Dalton and Reverend Bobby Ivester officiating with burial to follow in Evans Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, January 20, 2017 6:00 – 8:00 P.M..  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Mr. Swain to the Jefferson Church, 267 Mahaffey Street, Jefferson, Georgia 30549, or to the American Cancer Society, 105 West Park Drive, Suite C, Athens, Georgia  30606.
